If you grew up anywhere in the world any time since the early 1900s, chances are that you've heard of Vacation Bible School (VBS), and it's possibly a summer tradition for your family. If you're new to this whole thing, welcome to one of the best-kept secrets of summer break: a week of FREE crafts, games, songs, snacks, outdoor play, silly skits, and enough themed decorations to make your kids wonder if they walked into another world! Did I mention FREE?
Yes, VBS is hosted by local churches, and kids will learn Bible stories and hear about God throughout the week of half-days. But these programs are also known for being safe, welcoming, high-energy summer camps that attract families from all backgrounds. Whether your family attends church every Sunday, occasionally, or not at all, you'll find plenty of smiling volunteers ready to make your child feel included.
Also, one thing Woodland Park families have mastered over the years is the art of the VBS circuit. You heard me correctly: With several churches offering FREE programs on different weeks, many local kids end up collecting VBS experiences all summer long! Why choose just one treasure hunt, under-the-sea experience, jungle adventure, or space mission when you can do them all? I'm not kidding at all. You're welcome to go to every single one.
This year's lineup even includes an EVENING VBS, which means parents can enjoy the rare and magical phenomenon known as "date night" while the kids are busy singing, crafting, playing games, and burning off energy in a FREE, safe place for the evening!

The churches in our community go all out, transforming classrooms, hallways, and stages to match each year's theme. Expect colorful decorations, energetic music, creative storytelling, outdoor activities, snacks, and plenty of opportunities for kids to make new friends.
With programs spread throughout the summer, there's a good chance every family can find at least one week that fits their schedule. This guide includes every Vacation Bible School we could find in Woodland Park so you can compare dates, ages, themes, and registration details all in one place.
There's a camp that is being offered that is sounding pretty similar to VBS. Check this one out as well!
If you haven't noticed, I've embedded the link to my calendar that shows the dates of all of these half-day camps in one place ALL OVER THIS ARTICLE :) You're welcome.
I look forward to seeing you at VBS in the mountains this summer! Happy VBS hopping! :)
